It's a 10-15 minute walk into town from our cottage. Downtown and market cross were just as adorable in person as they'd been via the webcam.
Oddly, downtown also has some of the only trees on the island, up some of the little lanes leading off of high street:
Of course, we visited Jimmy Perez's house - one of the lodeberries. Those are very old properties right on the water - perhaps used by traders several hundred years ago. In the show Shetland, one of them is supposedly the home of the lead detective, Jimmy Perez. It was charming, and there was a little beach next door where I went wading.
And then we got to Victoria Pier - another place I've been watching via the webcam for years.
And another place to go wading!
We happened to see the RNLI rescue boat come back in after a 'shout' - to rescue the dog you can't see under all those blankets. RNLI volunteers love dogs - and also know that this keeps humans from going down the cliff AFTER the dog....
A tall ship!
And ferries stacked up. The Filla was waiting for the Fivla to get out of the way.
This is a sixern - a traditional boat for six used for fishing - and probably everything else.
